If I haven’t said this already, I love writing for the NY Post for multiple reasons. First, Kelly Torrance is a great editor and we are on the same wavelength probably 99% of the time. Second, I get to criticize powerful people and they might actually see what I have to say. In this case, I really hope Cuomo reads it and it pisses him off because of how accurate it is.
That was great. But sad to learn that I cannot tell a cop that others are speeding as well so I shouldn't get a ticket. Was hoping I could. Your piece prompted a very interesting comment, "Cuomo's own people removed him from office to get rid of the nursing home issue. They accused Andy of being a predator on the thinnest of evidence. Thats how the DNC cleans house."
Who are the people telling us “no one is above the law”? The wealthy, the powerful and US government officials not held accountable for high level criminal activity. Just another silly lie they like to tell the people who they hold in such little regard.
This was a great article. It was objective and non-partisan. Appreciate your clarification that Governor DeSantis did not bring COVID patients into the nursing homes. Cuomo is a political elite that no matter what he does he will get the proverbial pass. So many like him including Newsom, Whitmer etc. that will never be held accountable for their disastrous COVID policies. Unfortunately the average voter wasn’t informed and may never know the real truth about the COVID vaccine deaths.
Cuomo disgusts me. It’s amazing that the people of New York did not turn him out until he felt up a couple of staffers. Never mind that more than 10,000 seniors died due to his flawed policy. He could could have sent the Covid patients to the ships that Trump sent but he opted instead to return them to nursing homes where sick, elderly people died alone. And he thinks he did a great job, even wrote a book about it.

Perhaps we should applaud him for his finely-tuned sense of moderation, Mr. Coleman. Realizing that his exploitative political games had maximized their potential for causing pain, he vowed to avoid playing any more of them than he already had.
Nothing succeeds like success, after all, and how much more successful can a narcissistic psychopath like Cuomo get, than ordering the deaths of thousands? Why would he need to continue exploiting the pain of individuals with political games, when the families of those he killed will shed tears for decades? Perhaps he deserves kudos for knowing when enough is enough and he's made his point.

It's a well written article with a nice turn of phrase, but I do wonder if the usage of "gallivanting" in that fashion was sufficiently evocative for a wider audience. It's a good word, and parsimoniously deployed. It's not that I can think of a better, or suggest that the sentence be revised, but I'm of a vintage where the word was used often by my elders, half a century ago and more. It's rich in nuance, I think, for my age cohort, but is that true for the younger audience segment?
That's my only quibble, and I'm not convinced that it's a strong enough quibble to be worthy of the name.
Bingo! It's class. As you stated, people often think of the 2-tiered justice system as being about race, but in my own experience it's more often about class. We're middle-class and live in a very low-income rural area and we also owned, until 12/2021, a rental condominium in a high-rent area. I've had encounters with law enforcement in both areas and I can unequivocally state I was treated completely different in each place. It's been surreal being treated like a criminal in one place and handled very delicately, as if I was Jacqueline Onassis, at our former rental. This is not to say all racism and sexism is gone, but those with "isms" don't live in a country where this has any power, and there will always be people with biases of one kind or another. Mentioning OJ reminded me of the obsession many had with that trial, and I believe the obsession among many black Americans was due to wanting to see if a wealthy black man could spend his way to a not guilty finding, just as those like Cuomo will never answer for their actions.
Which is more important? Do we want the symbolic revenge of a perp walk and a prison sentence, in a case which would drag on for years, or do we want him removed from any positions where he could hurt people?

I think the class divide is not economic, but social. The division in the USA was once called
Old Money versus New Money.
