I had a similar experience but it was a beautiful chorus of voices combined into one, and I was wide awake standing in a hotel lobby that was full of people. The music said my name and I looked around to see who else heard and everyone was just going about their business. I was in a very dark place at the time and I believe this music vibrates the air around us, but we have to have our defenses completely down to hear it. That was several decades ago and I hope to hear it again some day. I also heard a story directly from a law enforcement officer (in a college religion class) in Virginia who, with his partner, responded to a rural call that there were squatters in a barn. They arrived and a pentagram was drawn in the dirt, and a burning smell was still in the air from candles. His partner went to cross the symbol to get to a door on the other side and he jumped back and said it was icy cold. He thought his partner was joking and went to cross. He said it was a cold, evil feeling he got as soon as he started to cross. Needless to say, they retreated. There is evil and there is beauty and light. Go towards the beauty and light.

Have you heard of something called sleep paralysis? What you describe sounds just like it. I've experienced it too.

I only share this in hopes you find it interesting or helpful, not to dispute your beliefs or anything like that. Wish you the best with your baptism.

Wonderful story on how God met you where you would hear him and feel him. It is amazing His love for each of us and how he uses different ways to let us know He is there.

In my case, growing up as a missionary's kid, I wasn't agnostic, but was rebellious and pretended to walk with God when in fact I was serving my self. God let me fall down to what I felt was rock bottom. I was in a city "canyon" surrounded by tall buildings and I felt Him say. I'm coming down the street and this will be last pass, get on the bus. I confessed my sins, repented turning 180 degrees and have been walking with Him ever since, Jesus is real and He loves us so much. I serve him now, not out of fear but out of love because He never gave up on me.

Christians are warned against what the Bible calls familiar spirits. Your spirit was mean but some people are fooled by these evil entities because they will at times present as a dead family member, friend, or someone familiar. These spirits can also seem "nice" and that is where you see believers get sucked in. I'm glad you found Jesus & know to stay away from the supernatural.

Well, you got my heart racing. As a child I was terrified of ghosts and relieved to grow out of it. I grew up without religion and claim I am an atheist, though often give my wish for peace and strength to god at night. Not sure how to reconcile. But in the light of day as an adult I have always been a non-believer - Until these last few years, where I’ve found myself at a loss to explain logically what is happening, other than to say it’s evil.

Evil is most definitely real, as is Goodness. Evil is tangible and supernatural, as is Goodness. Thank you so much for sharing your story here.

Thank you for sharing this story. I think some dance closer to the edge of the paranormal than others. My experiences have not necessarily led me to faith, but they definitely helped make it clearer. Like you, I have a few episodes in my life of sleep paralysis, and like you, it was not just that I was awake and not able to move, but the active feeling of being awake, and feeling something very dark in my presence and also not being able to move. The feeling of darkness scared me much more than the inability to move. Anyways, great read. Thanks for sharing this.

I try to recount these story's in my professional space without much succcess - to provoke an awareness of the unseen world and its impact on our mental health. We have agency and can say 'no' when we sence evil ie if a voice in your head says "it would better if you were dead" or "come join me, drive into that tree" that's not your thought!!!

I have had similar experiences in my youth and grew closer to God as well. Greater is He... 😇

When you get baptized please share about it! I'm so happy for you - don't wait, the enemy will try to delay it. I have prayed for you as well as many others I'm sure. Demons are real and I've had my own terrible encounters. Terrible, but ultimately victorious. God bless you, Adam

Don't "plan" it because that's putting it off. Stop whatever you're doing right this minute and make *haste*, for we don't know the day nor the hour of our own death.
