This is great. Don’t have kids but had this epiphany. Perhaps it’s a marker of maturity. Because I absolutely was hyper critical of my parents at one point. Now I’m grateful for all they did for their kids. I’m glad this happened before they left this mortal plane. But beware next stop is when you realize the ways in which you have become them. It might seem frightening to become your parents, but by the time it happens you’re too old to care! You got what you got, some good, some bad. And you know it was still up to you what you made of it.

How thru - I fully understood my mother after I had my first child and first time I missed my father (he passed when I was just over 2yrs old) when I saw my husband walking with her, trying to rock her to sleep….

Beautiful and so true! Happy Mother’s Day to your mom. She obviously did a great job despite any of her mistakes but we all make them as parents. I sometimes wish I could go back and redo some things with my oldest but such is life. No one is perfect but one. BTW, also grew up in NE Florida. Duuuuvalll!
